18th March – 20th March (Friday – Sunday): Ballet De La Jeunesse
First up is the Ballet happening this weekend at Roodepoort Civic Theatre – it is also Ladybugs Debut Ballet Concert! If you a fan of ballet and dancing make your way through, it’s a treat for all from the tiny ballerinas (Ladybug) to your Advanced Dancers, Irish Dancers and Contempary Dancers. Roodepoort Theatre in association with the Randburg Rotary Anns presents Ballet De La Jeunesse. This is a goodwill initiative to fund the education and development of the vulnerable children in residential care at Abraham Kriel Childcare. 18th March – 23rd March (Friday to Wednesday):
Meet the Easter Bunny – Hop on over to the Easter Village at Killarney Mall, daily until 23 Mar – fun activities for kids and they can meet the Easter Bunny! Daily until Monday 28 March, from 09h00 to 18h00. The Easter Village is filled with delicious treats and fun entertainment for kids – entry is free of charge.
19th March – 21st March (Saturday – Monday):
Lindt Easter Hunt…. Let that sink in a bit… LINDT! This Easter, children in Johannesburg will have the opportunity to embark on the ultimate Easter hunt, at the Lindt Gold Bunny Garden at Sandton City, from 19 to 21 March. This enchanting garden will play host to a series of Easter hunts, during which children will be able to fill their baskets with delicious Lindt treats. Children can enjoy an Easter hunt for Gold Bunny minis and Lindor eggs, and one lucky child will find the 100g Gold Bunny. Entry to the garden is free of charge and hunts take place twice per hour. 19th March (Saturday):
Art Museum – Families with children between the ages of 6 and 12 are given a tour of the exhibition that is currently running at the Wits Art Museum – and then given a fun activities to complete. Participation is free, but donations are welcomed. The Funny Bunny Magic Show – an interactive show for ages 3-99 by Darin the Magician, at Kinder Theatre. Steam Train – Enjoy a steam train outing from Hermanstad on Monday at 08h00; spend the day in historic Cullinan, returning at 17h30. Board a 60-year-old railway coach at the Friends of the Rail’s private Hermanstad Station for an unforgettable trip back in time. Your trip will take you past the familiar sights of the Union Buildings, Loftus stadium, UNISA, Gautrain, the 1910 Pretoria station building, etc, all from a different angle. Refreshments are available from the train’s on-board kiosk. Enjoy lunch in one of Cullinan’s cafes or restaurants, or cook your own on the free braai fires in the park off Oak Avenue, adjacent to the Cullinan Information Bureau. 22 March – 24th March (Tuesday – Thursday):
Learn to fish! Three-day (two-night) kids’ fishing camp on the Vaal. Fishing equipment is supplied (fishing rod, reels, hooks, bait, traces and lines). Children are taught to understand the various tools, such as the types, textures and qualities of fishing rods and reels, as well as the type of fishing lines and traces. They will also learn how to tie simplex and complex knots, and understand the different methods of fishing. They will learn what types of bait to use to catch specific fish. They will learn how to handle and cast their fishing rod, and how to observe the river flow, temperature and environment. And finally they will learn how to catch the fish – how to reel it in and draw it near the net. All skill levels are welcome, from the beginner to the more experienced. Along with the experience of learning how to fish, other activities include table tennis, board games, educational movies on BIG screen, pool table, camp fires and canoeing along the Vaal River. Kidz Fishing Camp will be having more entertainment than just fishing this Easter, also spoiling kids with a supertube slide outing and an Easter Egg Hunt Adventure.
